How the result is decided
The rules run in a fixed order, and the first one that matches decides the result. The same answers always give the same result.
| If you said | The result |
|---|---|
| A pool enclosure gate or section no longer closes | Treat the pool as open and fix that part first. This outranks every other answer. |
| A section is down, or leans over a sidewalk, street or neighbor's yard | Keep people clear and have it braced or taken down, then decide. |
| You want a new material, height or look | Plan a replacement around the new design, with height limits, HOA and neighbor notice checked first. |
| Most of the run or many posts are failing, or old rot | Replacement is likely the better spend. |
| One stretch, or one or two posts | A section repair may be enough, with the posts on either side checked. |
| It stands and closes but looks tired | Maintenance, not repair. |
| One post, panel, board or the gate | A targeted repair that fixes the cause. |
What this check cannot tell you
It cannot see inside a post or below the ground, so it cannot say how much rot or termite damage a post hides or how deep the footings go. Someone has to look at the posts in person for that.
It does not certify a pool barrier, and it does not predict what an HOA or inspector will decide. Next: estimate the cost of a new fence.
