Fence cost estimator
Pick a material, a rough length and your gates for a national budgeting range, the City of Temecula permit fee where one applies, and notes on what will move the price. No contact details needed, and the result updates as you go.
Length and material set the range. The ground, the slope and the gates say where in it you land.

The city fee schedule has no line for a wood, vinyl or metal fence under 6 ft. Height limits for each yard, and any HOA rules, are confirmed for the address.
Where your project may fall
- Toward the low endA flat line keeps panels and posts simple.
Taken together, your answers point toward the low end of the range.
Not included
Surveys, HOA fees, staining or painting after install, landscape repair and anything found once digging starts are priced separately. Block and retaining walls are priced per project.
These are national budgeting ranges, not a quote from Cask Fence Temecula. The price for your property comes after someone walks the line.
How the estimate works
The tool multiplies your length by a national budgeting range for the material: $10 to $50 per linear foot for a 6 ft wood privacy fence, $15 to $85 per linear foot for vinyl, $25 to $85 per linear foot for wrought iron or tubular steel, $40 to $75 per linear foot for aluminum, $8 to $40 per linear foot for chain link, $10 to $45 per linear foot for pool barrier fencing and $15 to $35 per linear foot for ranch or split rail. It then adds $200 to $1,500 for each walk gate, $2,000 to $6,000 for each double drive gate and $3 to $7 per linear foot to tear out and haul away an old fence. These are national figures. They are not Cask Fence Temecula's rates, and nothing is scaled up or down for Temecula.
Ground, slope, height and whether the fence meets the house each add a note saying whether they push the job toward the high or low end. There is no defensible way to turn those into percentages, so the tool doesn't. Horizontal wood and pipe or no-climb horse fence have no reliable national range, so for those it shows the factors instead of a number.
The permit line uses the City of Temecula fee schedule: a wood, vinyl or metal fence over 6 ft and up to 10 ft is $384 for the first 100 linear feet and $91 for each additional 100, so 150 ft comes to $475. The schedule has no fee line below 6 ft. Other cities and the counties set their own fees, which are confirmed for the address.
What the range leaves out
- A property survey, if the line needs one
- HOA application fees
- Staining or painting after a wood fence is built
- Landscape, sprinkler or hardscape repair along the line
- Block walls and retaining walls, which are priced per project
